The Zeroll ice cream scoop was invented by an Ohio man named Sherman Kelly in 1935. He came up with the idea to have heat conductive fluid sealed in the handle. The heat from the user's hand warms the fluid causing the scoop to easily slice through the hard ice cream, creating a ball which would nicely top a cone, and does not need rinsing as the ice cream doesn't stick to the scoop. That's how they do it! Originally manufactured by Alcoa now made from an even better aluminum alloy, the Zeroll model 1010 continues to be the most popular and sensible way to dish out ice cream. Still made in the USA.
Zeroll's Original Ice Cream Scoop creates a portion that appears larger by eliminating compression, which gives you up to 20 percent more scoops of ice cream per gallon. Nothing else works like a Zeroll. Made in the U.S.A.
Zeroll 1010 Original Ice Cream Scoop, 4 Ounce reviews
My sister n law accidentally put in dishwasher not knowing you shouldn't. It changed color but still works great. Our favorite scooper. Maybe put warning label on handle as reminder no dishwasher safe.
i placed the scoop in the dishwasher and when the cycle was complete the scoop was black and so was my hand from the film, next location in the trash
ABestKitchen note - the Zeroll ice cream scoop has a fluid inside it that works off your hand's heat to warm the scoop. They cannot be placed in a dishwasher for this reason.
