I was hoping for a more sturdy type of steak knife like the ones you find in Steak Restaurants but overall they are a deasant knife for the foreseeable future.
ABestKitchen note - these knives are made with precision by fine knife makers in Brazil. While they are heavy, very high in quality and have obvious attention to detail, the precision nature of these might not make them exactly what you would see in a steakhouse. The Gaucho Knife is the original steakhouse-style knife, and American Metalcraft has a version (see our steak knives section) made with a stainless steel blade and plastic handle so it can be run through a dishwasher for heavy steakhouse use. Wood-handle knives should not be run through a dishwasher, as the wood tends to wear and split.

About 20 years ago, we came across very similar knives at a major warehouse club. We purchased them and loved to use them. Over the years, two were damaged (grandchildren) and the wood was really bleached out due to dishwasher use.
We purchased two sets of Porterhouse Knives from ABest Kitchen and they are exactly what we originally had. They are heavy, large and excellent steak knives. Many steak houses use similar knives. Tramontina makes excellent mid priced products. These are great knives and the cost is excellent. I strongly recommend them, especially if you like the full blade for cutting meat.
